Neighborhood

Grant Park is Atlanta’s most important historic district, full of Victorian mansions and craftsman bungalows built as early as 1882. It surrounds the city’s oldest park by the same name that offers over a 130 acres of outdoor adventure. A neighborhood that has been around as long as Grant Park has is full of interesting things to do and see! Zoo Atlanta, established in 1889, is home to over 1,400 animals, including the country’s only pair of giant panda twins. The Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, Lemuel P Grant Mansion, the Atlanta Stockade, Fort Walker, and St Paul United Methodist Church (and its 130 year old organ!) are just a few of the historic destinations Grant Park has to offer. The neighborhood also houses part of the famous Oakland Cemetery, the final resting place of Margaret Mitchell, Maynard Jackson, and Bobby Jones. Be sure to check out the Grant Park Farmers Market on Sundays (April thru December) and some of the communities best festivals, like the Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes and Artist Market, Summer Shade Art & Music Festival, and the Pic’n in Grant Park BBQ & Music Festival. After walking through the historic tombstones or visiting the giraffes and zebras, find some amazing eats at local favorite restaurants such as Six Feet Under, Ria’s Bluebird, and Grant Central Pizza. And if laid back nightlife is what you’re craving, don’t miss Tin Lizzy’s Cantina, Republic Social House, and Augustine’s.
